HVAC Preventive measures to take for efficiency and to save you money down the road…

I received a call from a neighbor on our street asking if we could help her with her HVAC system because she’s having water accumulate in her drip pan. I asked a few questions before assessing the problem and I said my business partner and I will be over shortly. We detected the clog in the condensation drip line leading outside and put 2 gallons just below the boiling level of the water down the line because the line had absolutely no drip or suction. Within 20 minutes of several efforts, the “snot” broke up and this is what we found in our shop vac. Please see attached for details of what came out of the condensation drip line. We never saw anything like this come out of a drip line before having done this flush over 30 times.

As an FYI to our clients, please be sure to always put vinegar in your PVC drip line (1/2 cup) once a month (slowly) down the line, and on the third month, do the same process followed by very hot (not boiling) water about a gallon or less and then shop vac the line outside by your condenser thereafter. It’ll save you money in the long run and hot days without air conditioning.
